The September 3, episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai begins with Naksh asking Kartik to stay away from Naira. Naksh says that Kartik needs to stick to his promise. Naira is unable to stop Naksh and feels bad. Kartik leaves the gift brought for Naira and Naira picks up the gift. Kartik returns home and Swarna notices that he is sad.

Swarna overhears Luv-Kush talking about how Naksh scolded Kartik and gets furious. She calls Devyani and yells at her. Devyani asks her to ask Kartik about the incident. Naira and Kartik miss each other.

Manish asks Kartik to choose between his family and Naira and asks Kartik to stop meeting Naira. Naksh too tells Naira to stop meeting Kartik. Naira and Kartik wonder what to do. Swarna tries talking to Kartik. Rajshri tells Naira that she is complicating things more. Naksh decides that they should not go for the Janmashtami celebrations to avoid the Goenkas.

Kartik has a nightmare where he sees Naira walking into the fire and panics. He tries calling her and is relaxed after hearing her voice. Kartik asks Suhasini if intuitions are for real. Suhasini says that if the person is close to you, then any kind of intuitions happen to be true. Kartik sees Naira walking by and her dupatta is on fire.
