The episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai begins with Naira taking Kartik to a secret place and surprises him with balloons. They spend some romantic time together. The next morning, Shubham is sitting near a bush in a semi-conscious state. He is heavily dosed with drugs. Naira sees the drug dealers and runs behind them. While running, she slips and hits her head onto the Iron Gate and lies unconscious.

Kartik and Manish get shocked seeing Shubham in a scary state and take him to the hospital. Manish informs Akhilesh the same and everybody rushes to the hospital. The guard informs Naira about Shubham. She rushes to the hospital. She tries calling Kartik but in vain. Kartik too tries calling Naira but her phone isn't with her. Naira realizes that Shubham must have overdosed on drugs. She runs. She manages to catch a cab and calls Kartik from the driver's number. Kartik's phone is not reachable.

Shubham cries and asks Kartik and Swarna to help him as he wants to live. The doctors come and try to save him. They ask if he was on drugs. Everbody gets shocked. Naira's car punctures and she runs to the hospital. Till then, Shubham informs the family that Naira knows about his drug addiction. Shubham passes away. Everybody gets shocked.
