PeepingMoon Exclusive: 'People used to think my name is Arnav Singh Raizada,' reveals Barun Sobti

Barun Sobti's fandom knows no boundaries. After shooting to fame as Arnav Singh Raizada in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, his female fan following snowballed. The actor is now gearing up for the release of his web show titled Kohrra which will stream on Netflix from July 15. In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon, Barun spoke about tasting fandom and the behavioural patterns of fans.

He told, "Usually what happens is people follow the image more. The major reason for that is the writers who have written those characters so beautifully. Speaking of fandoms, they are different. It also depends on what characters you choose and the kind of performances you give. If there's a set of people who likes your work, it's not a mandate that they'll crowd you or rush you. With the work I do, people come to me, appreciate my work and move on."

Creator of Kohrra, Sudip Sharma, added, "With television, you have you understand that it is such a powerful medium. The characters became a part of your lives. It is a different kind of association when you watch a character while having your lunch and dinner daily. TV characters become a part of your routine in an intrinsic way." Barun plugged in saying, "People fall fans to the character."

Sudip then said, "Yes, it is the character they fall in love with. I guess the actor gets more chances to shine through." Barun went on to share, "I think so. This is not a thing I am making up. Jab main television karta tha, logon ko mera naam hi nahi pata tha. People used to think my character's name is my name." When Sudip asked, "Which was?" he told, "Arnav (Singh Raizada) karke ek tha." Barun continued, "People thought that's Arnav only. That's because television doesn't give you credit; actors don't get credit."

Kohrra also stars Suvinder Vicky, Varun Badola, Harleen Sethi, Rachel Shelley, and Manish Chaudhary.
