Ishaan Khatter might not have been as prolific as his debutante partner, Janhvi Kapoor, but he makes sure the projects he selects are different from one another. Since his debut in 2017, he has diversified his filmography unlike any of his peers by following Beyond the Clouds with Dhadak, a masala flick Khali Peeli, a horror comedy Phone Bhoot, a Vishal Bhardwaj short movie Fursat, and a biographical war drama Pippa. Next on his horizon is an international web series, The Perfect Couple, alongside Nicole Kidman and Dakota Fanning, and while that show is still in production, we hear he has already bagged one more web series.
PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that Ishaan is next doing a big-scale series for the streaming giant Netflix. The details of the project are shrouded in secrecy at this moment, but we hear it's an ensemble cast romantic drama series that has tentatively been titled Royals. Pritish Nandy Communications, known for producing Amazon Prime Video's international Emmay-nominated show Four More Shots Please! is backing this project as its Production No. 25.
The show is currently in the casting stage and is expected to go on floors in the first quarter of 2024. Talks are ongoing with a young star-kid opposite Ishaan, but she hasn't been finalized yet. The project will mark the Dhadak actor’s third web series following Mira Nair’s BBC mini-series, A Suitable Boy, and the upcoming Netflix series, The Perfect Couple, centered around a lavish wedding that turns disastrous after a murder. Ishaan has already finished shooting for the latter, which is scheduled to premiere in mid-2024.
Royals not only signifies Ishaan's expanding repertoire but also marks the beginning of a collaboration between Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC) and Netflix. The production company is collaborating with a new streaming partner after exclusively creating four projects for Amazon Prime Video since 2019. Their fourth project, Notorious Girls, is presently in production and will premiere sometime in 2024. It's a young adult series set in a campus background and features an impressive cast of young as well as reputed and popular actors such as Revathi, Simran, and Nandita Das. Margarita With a Straw and The Sky Is Pink director Shonali Bose is helming it along with Vasant Nath and Neha Veena Sharma.
