Akshay Kumar does not believe in taking a break. The Khiladi Kumar never stops working, unlike other Bollywood stars who have taken time off after experiencing multiple back-to-back failures in the past. Instead, he takes time to reflect, sit back, and make the necessary changes. The Rowdy Rathore actor has learned his lesson from the string of box office duds and has decided to only undertake large-theatrical films going forward. After wrapping up Ali Abbas Zafar’s big-scale action spectacle, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, last month, Akshay has now started his next biggie, which promises to be even grander in scale.
Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Akshay Kumar has now moved on to Dinesh Vijan’s Sky Force and has already completed the first schedule. The aerial action thriller went on floors on May 9 and was shot for around six days in a Mumbai studio. "It was a brief schedule where some talkie portions were filmed with Akshay and other cast members. The main schedules will begin next month and continue through October 2023. This action-packed thriller will be shot on a massive scale across numerous air bases in Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Assam over a four-month period. Akshay plays an Air Force officer, and he is looking dapper and absolutely convincing in the uniform. This film will bring him back into the league," a source close to the project told us, adding that Akshay will finish his remaining portions for Dharma Productions’ C. Shankaran Nair biopic this month before focusing solely on Sky Force starting next month.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan (Maddock Films), Jyoti Deshpande (Jio Studios), and Amar Kaushik, Sky Force is based on a true event and celebrates one of the greatest triumphs of the Indian Air Force. Screenplay writer Sandeep Kelwani, known for writing Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34 and Bholaa, jointly directs this film with Abhishek Kapur, who has previously assisted filmmakers like Nitesh Tiwari, Raj & DK, Amar Kaushik, and Laxman Utekar. Kelwani, who makes his directorial debut with this film, has also written the screenplay himself, while Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran has been brought on board to handle the cinematography.
Sky Force marks the second film that Akshay has begun this year. He has already finished Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and has four other movies lined up for release. Abundantia Entertainment’s Soorarai Pottru remake is scheduled for cinemas on September 1, while OMG 2 is expected to come out shortly after. The two will be followed by Tinu Suresh Desai’s film, now titled The Great Indian Rescue, sometime around December this year and Dharma Productions’ C. Shankaran Nair biopic in mid-next year. Sky Force is aiming for a late 2024 release.
