PeepingMoon Exclusive: Yash Raj Films focuses on expanding spy universe; no room for Dhoom 4 at this moment

The Bollywood media seems to be in a "rumours" phase right now. Numerous speculations are coming in every day that are outright false and not even close to reality. Hollywood star Jason Momoa of Aquaman fame is not the villain in Yash Raj Films’ mammoth Tiger vs. Pathaan project. Everything is well between Karan Johar and Ayan Mukerji for Brahmastra 2 and 3. Siddharth Anand is not directing Krrish 4 as he will be busy with the SRK and Salman Khan film next year. The rumour that Allu Arjun has already finished filming for his cameo in Atlee's Jawan is just a figment of the imagination because he is not a part of that movie.

Another rumour that has been spreading over the past few days is related to Dhoom 4. Contrary to what has been reported in the media, Dhoom 4 is not happening anytime soon. Reliable industry sources have clarified that there hasn't been any recent progress on this popular franchise. "Yash Raj Films has gained confidence after Pathaan, and they intend to concentrate on franchise movies going forward, but at this moment, they are fully focused on the SPY UNIVERSE, which is expanding with each film. Aditya Chopra wants to continue the Dhoom series, as it has been almost a decade since the last film, Dhoom 3, but he hasn’t taken a call on that yet. The writing for the fourth Dhoom film has been going on for years, but they haven't yet come up with the ideal storyline. Aditya and his crew are all presently concentrating only on the spy universe and have put the Dhoom series on the back foot for the time being," a source told us on the condition of anonymity.

The rumours regarding Dhoom 4 began circulating after a prominent publication said that Aamir Khan was interested in doing this film to revive his career after the massive debacle of Laal Singh Chaddha. Later, Ranbir Kapoor’s name surfaced in the media as the possible leading man for Dhoom 4.  "While it’s true that Aditya Chopra is planning to take the Dhoom franchise ahead with younger stars, how can Ranbir be cast when not even the story has been written? It’s still in the scripting stage and does not seem to be happening before the end of 2024. Nothing concrete has been locked on that project as things stand today," the source further added.

Yash Raj Films is gearing up to lift the ante on the action genre with its upcoming three films in the spy universe. Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi’s Tiger 3 is ready to release during the Diwali weekend and will be followed by Hrithik Roshan’s War 2, which will have Telugu superstar Jr. NTR as the antagonist this time. The second installment of War will be followed by the biggest showdown, Tiger Vs. Pathaan, which will feature Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan going after one another onscreen. Ayan Mukerji will direct War 2, while Siddharth Anand has been given the opportunity to direct India’s two biggest Khan superstars. Both films will go on the floor one by one in November 2023 and February 2024, respectively.
