PeepingMoon Exclusive: Producer Manish Shah confirms Allu Arjun's Pushpa will not get a Hindi remake, says 'which hero will stay in jungle for 200 days to make a film like this'

Hindi dubbed versions and remakes of Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films have captured the market for years. Now, with the success of the Hindi version of Allu Arjun's Pushpa: The Rise, the market has widened. Blurring all language barriers, the Hindi market is now openly welcoming South films. Now, two months after Pushpa: The Rise's release, producer Manish Shah of Goldmines Telefilms, spoke to PeepingMoon about the thriller's success.

Talking to us exclusively, Manish opened up about why South Indian films draw the attention of a Hindi-speaking audience, the second part of Pushpa and whether the Allu Arjun starrer will be getting a Hindi remake.

Excerpts from the interview:

Pushpa: The Rise’s success in the Hindi belt has been phenomenal. As the producer, why do you feel the audience found interest in the film?

See, we never intended to make a film similar to Sholay, Gadar, Ghatak, Dabangg etc. That can be one of the key reasons. Also, Pushpa was made on a large scale, it had comedy, action, romance and everything else that is required for a mass entertainer.

When did you decide to back Pushpa: The Rise

I have been backing South Indian films for more than a decade. Hindi dubbed versions are not new. During the lockdown, people got a lot of time to watch such films. I thought whichever first South film comes out, I'll back it. South Indian films are performing well on TV, why not release them in theatres?

Did Pushpa: The Rise’s success reaffirm your faith in South Indian films?

For the last 14 years, I have had faith in South films. People were watching it on small screens, now they will do that on the big screen.

Is Pushpa: The Rise getting a Hindi remake?

No way! The Hindi speaking audience has already watched it. Which hero will go and stay in a jungle for nearly 200 days to make a film like this?

What's the update on Pushpa Part 2?

We are still working on the second part of PushpaWe are making it bigger and better.
