EXCLUSIVE: Amitabh Bachchan and writer-director Rumi Jafry to collaborate once again?

Amitabh Bachchan and filmmaker Rumi Jafry last worked together on God Tussi Great Ho (2008), which was helmed by the latter. For a long time, there has been a buzz that Rumi was keen on working with Big B again for a film. Apparently, the writer-director had approached senior Bachchan for a thriller in 2014, which was also supposed to feature actress, Chitrangada Singh. However, now we hear that the film has been put on hold and Rumi has found another interesting script for Big B.

A source informed PeepingMoon.com, "Big B and Rumi have been working on ideas that could be turned into a film for some time now. There was a thriller, which Bachchan had almost locked which was to co-star Chitrangda, but Rumi has found another interesting script which he plans to narrate to the actor.''

For the uninitiated, Rumi and Amitabh have worked professionally in three films together. Their association started with the 1998 film Bade Miyan Chhote Miyaan. The film, directed by David Dhawan, was written by Rumi. They again crossed paths in 2002 film Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin, for which Rumi contributed as a dialogue writer. Eventually, he ended up directing Amitabh in God Tussi Great Ho.

Having forgotten the fiasco that was God Tussi Great Ho, we hear that Amitabh will soon be meeting up with Rumi for the narration of the latest script that the director has chosen. While the film boasted of a stellar cast, including Big B, Salman Khan, and Priyanka Chopra, the fantasy drama failed to create an impact at the box-office. Well, we certainly hope that Rumi's upcoming collaboration with Big B doesn’t go wrong.

On the professional front, Amitabh is currently busy shooting for television show Kaun Banega Crorepati and has three films on floor, including Badla, Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra,  and Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan. On the other hand, Rumi's last credible film as a writer was Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Returns (2008).
