The intrigue over what’s going to happen at Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Meet the Parents’ binge tomorrow night in Mumbai is quickly scaling new heights. The actress is trending right now and threatening to overtake poor Atal Behari Vajpayee who passed away yesterday. Priyanka, who is hosting a dinner party at her Juhu residence along with mother Madhu Chopra for American beau Nick Jonas’s parents Denise and Kevin Jonas Sr., is expected to formally announce her engagement to the singer here.

Bollywood, which has quickly forgiven Priyanka for unceremoniously ditching Salman Khan’s film Bharat (her comeback film) a fortnight ago, is of the opinion that what took place in London on her birthday in July was just a “proposal”. This followed a whirlwind romance of two months and saw Nick famously closing down a Tiffany store to choose a five carat engagement ring for Priyanka. Now the couple will formally get engaged tomorrow in the presence of family on both side and friends, Bollywood sources believe.

Most of Bollywood, at least those that are close to Priyanka and are in Mumbai this weekend, are expected to attend the dinner she is hosting for Nick and his family. Besides his parents, Nick’s brothers Kevin, Joe and Frankie are also here. Apart from the actress’ close Bollywood friends, the cast of the film she is working on, Shonali Bose’s The Sky is Pink, will be there. Priyanka has specially invited Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim it is learned. The film’s producers Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala are also expected to attend the dinner party.

Priyanka has made her intentions about Nick clear by going to the airport to receive the Jonas family last night. Her relationship with the popular singer who is 10 years her junior is now being taken seriously by not just the Bollywood press, but also international trade and entertainment magazines like Rolling Stones, People and Variety. What was being thought of as a fling is now recognized as the real thing. One source in Mumbai seems to think the actress will make some grand announcement next month when she returns to Mumbai for the Ganeshotsav. It has been a tradition with Priyanka to visit the Andhericha Raja Ganpati on Veera Desai Road. Nick is expected to be with her this time and the occasion is auspicious.
