Poor Kapil Sharma. The Comedy King of Indian TV, who has hit a rough patch that has affected his popularity and also the ratings of his new show Family Time with Kapil Sharma, is reportedly seeking medical aid at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri.
And, if sources are to be believed, Kapil is under the care of a Dr. Shaunak Ajinkya who is a Consultant Psychiatrist at the hospital. This has given a further boost to the rumours that Kapil is going through depression and in the need of urgent and specialist medical treatment. Kapil is reportedly under heavy medication and is believed to be taking 23 different medicines a day.
This news comes in the wake of Kapil’s ugly showdown with a Bollywood journalist last week which resulted in him filing a police complaint against the journalist. And also after entertainment reports that hinted his new show was being suspended by Sony Entertainment due to low ratings, the comedian’s erratic behaviour on the sets and his failing health. Kapil had lashed out in the media saying, “The people who want my career destroyed can spread whatever lies they want. I am okay with it. I am not new to people piggy riding on my success. Let them, as long as it gives them the satisfaction they want.”

However, Kapil is said to believe that Sony is completely behind him but it is he who is unhappy with the way Family Time with Kapil Sharma is going. A report in the media suggested Kapil felt it did not have the spark that his earlier show Comedy Nights with Kapil did. According to sources, Kapil has been telling his team ‘Kuch mazaa nahin aa raha hai’ and was losing interest in what he was doing. The decision to call off the show is apparently Sharma’s own. At the same time, there has been talk that Kapil is working to revamp and re-launch the show. News on the show apart, it is being claimed by his former manager that Kapil is suffering from depression. Maybe the visits to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital are for this reason. Dr. Shaunak Ajinkya could not be reached for comment.
