Exclusive: Riddhima Kapoor Sahni clears the air regarding her plagiarism controversy, here is what she has to say

Ranbir Kapoor’s elder sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni who runs a famous jewellery label by the name of Riddhima Kapoor Sahni Jewelry recently got embroiled in a plagiarism controversy. It all started when Instagram handle Diet Sabya, known for its fashion policing, put out a post calling out one of Ridhima’s labelled pearl piece. Diet Sabya mentioned that her brand copied a pair of earrings from legendary Kokichi Mikimoto who is known in the pearl world as the ‘King of Pearls’.

“The legendary Kokichi Mikimoto is known in the pearl world as the ‘King of Pearls’. His ‘cultured pearls’ —patented in 1916 — is a benchmark for the industry at large. So, naturally ‘Jewellery designer of the year’, @riddhimakapoorsahniofficial couldn’t help herself from selling the iconic Mikimoto pearl and diamond earrings under her namesake label. If this is not #gutsontoast, we don’t know what is!” shared Diet Sabya in a long Instagram post on Sunday evening.

But soon after Riddhima cleared the air regarding the same mentioning how she would never copy or take away the credit from a designer. She uploaded a note on Instagram mentioning about how her team forgot to tag the original designer Kokichi Mikimoto for an inspirational post.

She wrote, “We at Riddhima Kapoor Sahni Jewellery, do not encourage plagiarism! We are extremely sorry for not tagging the original designer for an inspirational post of the diamond and pearl earrings by Mikimoto Kokichi- a legend with pearls! We respect the creativity of every designer and would never copy and disregard any of them. Thank you.”

PeepingMoon.com then got in touch with Riddhima and she said, "We forgot to tag the designer; it was an error on our team's part, not plagiarism. It's an inspirational design and we would never copy". Well, all is well that ends well.
