Bhojpuri actress Akanksha Dubey died by suicide on March 26, 2023. The 25-year-old was found hanging inside her hotel room in Varanasi. Just moments before her apparent suicide a she had gone live on Instagram where she cried bitterly and having an emotional breakdown, the video of which went subsequently viral. She was in Varanasi for the shoot of her film Laik Hoon Main Nalaik Nahin. No suicide note was found on her person; however, actor Samar Singh and his brother Sanjay Singh were accused of harassing and threatening the actress. The two were absconding since the incident but now Samar Singh has been arrested by the police interrogating the case. He was arrested in Ghaziabad.
Days after Akanksha was found dead in a hotel room in Varanasi, singer Samar Singh, her rumoured boyfriend was arrested in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. He was accused of abetting her suicide by Akanksha’s mother, Madhu Dubey. She had revealed on March 21, that Samar’s brother Sanjay Singh had threatened to kill Akanksha, which the actress herself informed her over the phone.

Sanjay Singh was also accused in the complaint filed by her mother, and ever since then Samar was absconding. A lookout notice was reportedly issued against Samar and if reports are to be believed he was planning to fly abroad. The police issued a lookout notice for him at all airports. As per media reports, the Varanasi police have produced Samar in the CJM court and have sought 24 hours transit remand for him. He was also taken to MMG District Hospital in Ghaziabad for medical test. Sarnath police SHO Dharmpal Singh said that an FIR has been registered against Sanjay and Samar on charges of abetment of suicide and other relevant sections.
Akanksha’s post-mortem report was also issued yesterday, wherein an unknown liquid was found in her stomach and the organ was congested. However, no food or drink was found in the stomach and she was not in an inebriated state.
