Did Raj Kundra pay Rs 25 lakh as bribe to officials for evading arrest in pornography case?

The Mumbai Crime Branch has been extensively investigating Raj Kundra’s involvement in the alleged pornography case, while he is being kept under police custody till July 23. However, several new allegations have surfaced against the businessman. As per a tabloid, Arvind Srivastava alias Yash Thakur, who is an absconding accused and was named as the racket’s kingpin in March, had emailed a complaint to the Anti-Corruption Bureau in the same month alleging that Kundra paid Rs 25 lakhs bribe to the Crime Branch officers to evade his arrest.

Reportedly, the ACB had forwarded the email to the Mumbai Police Chief’s office in April. A day after Kundra’s arrest on July 19, it was reported that the investigating agency had filed a case against him on February 4 but couldn't arrest him because of a lack of evidence.

The crime branch has procured around 70 videos shot by his former PA Umesh Kamat with the help of different production houses post Kundra’s arrest. Post Raj Kundra’s arrest, his lawyer objected to the application of Section 67A of the Information Technology Act on sending obscene content in electronic form along with other sections with respect to pornography as these laws consider ‘actual intercourse’ as porn and the rest everything is termed as vulgar content. He also stated that web shows work on vulgar content these days and they are not classified as porn.
