Kannada actress Ragini Dwivedi was arrested on September 4, 2020, by the Central Crime Branch for allegedly being a part of the Sandalwood drugs racket. After spending four months in a Bengaluru jail, the actress has been granted bail by the Supreme Court today. The court granted her bail stating no drugs were found at her home and the arrest was based on the statements of other accused.
According to reports, Ragini's lawyer, Sidharth Luthra, said that the actress was arrested based on a conspiracy. However, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who represented the Karnataka government, opposed the bail and claimed that she could tamper with the evidence. He added that she could manipulate the evidence gathered in the Sandalwood drug case. Mr. Mehta stated that Ragini shouldn't be granted bail until the charge sheet is filed.

Apart from Ragini, Kannada actress, Sanjjanaa Galrani, was also arrested. Ragini's lawyer had applied for bail multiple times before. In November last year, they appealed to the Supreme Court after the Karnataka High Court rejected her bail plea.
