Burglary in bungalow where Sonam Kapoor got married

Rockdale, the grand bungalow at Bandra’s bandstand where Sonam Kapoor famously got married to Anand Ahuja on May 8, is in the news again. But this time it’s got nothing to do with the happily married Bollywood actress and fashionista. The bungalow, which belongs to Sonam’s aunt Kavita Singh, was reportedly burgled on the night of September 20. And valuables worth lakhs of rupees were stolen.

It is believed that the closed room which the burglar broke into was also used to store several of the costly gifts that Sonam and Ahuja got for their wedding and which they were keeping here till they moved into their new residence. The Bandra police, who are investigating the crime, have reportedly asked for an inventory of all that is missing.

The burglary is believed to have taken place around 3 am. The police are in possession of closed circuit TV footage in which the burglar can be seen breaking into the fourth floor of Rockdale. They are working silently and quickly to bust the case and are being close-lipped about the investigation.

Rockdale, opposite Bandra Bandstand, is where the Anand Karaj – the Sikh marriage ritual meaning “Blissful Union” that was introduced by Guru Amar Das – was held to solemnize the Sonam-Anand traditional Indian wedding. It was followed by lavish lunch that all of Bollywood attended.
