Bombay High Court quashes FIR against Armaan Kohli after girlfriend Neeru Randhawa takes back assault case

Bombay high court today quashed the FIR lodged against actor Armaan Kohli after he submitted an affidavit from jail which expressed "remorse and regret" over the incident of beating up his girlfriend.  Since the victim Neeru Randhawa did not want to take the case further, the court deemed it fit to quash the case. However, the court directed the actor to submit an affidavit and give an undertaking that he will not repeat the offence ever again. The court said, “We hope and trust that Armaan would abide by the affidavit in its true spirit," said the court.

The court also directed the actor to deposit an amount of Rs 1 lakh with Tata Memorial’s Children Treatment Centre and another Rs 1 lakh with the National Association of Blind within six months from today towards contribution to society. The court had previously said, “We have to think of the society also. This isn't the first time he has been accused of something like this. So, the least we expect is an affidavit expressing remorse and regret from him, and an assurance that he will not repeat this in future.”

Negotiations were going on between Kolhi’s girlfriend Neeru and his lawyers. Apparently, a day before, Neeru was given some compensation by Kohli's family. Kohli’s lawyers showed two more cheques issued by Rajneesh Kohli, Armaan’s brother to the court which will be handed over to Neeru. Neeru has already received one cheque. In her statement to court, she said, “If the conditions of the settlement are met then I will be happy to take back the case."

Armaan’s 90-year-old father Rajkumar Kohli was in court but stated that he was not aware of any settlement. The court then asked Armaan’s brother-in-law Raman Bhandari to step into the witness box and he accepted the fact that he was aware of the amicable settlement between the two parties.
