Popular television actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee got the biggest shock when she learned about her bank account being hacked. Like that wasn’t a shocker, she got to know that a whopping amount of Rs. 16 lakh has been stolen from her account. The theft is reported to have taken place at 1 am IST on March 28. Following this, the actress was clearly irritated and tensed.

In an interview with a leading daily, she said, “I realized today early morning when I got a message from the bank stating that Rs. 16 lakh had been withdrawn. I was confused and lost. I didn't know what to do and how to react initially. But then I immediately informed my mother and the bank manager.”

On knowing about the fraud she rushed to the bank. She said, “I am really irritated at this point in time. We earn the money after so much of hard work. I just don't understand how people can steal it so easily. The Government asks us to go cashless but even now with cash in the bank, things are not safe. The hackers are educated and they are simply misusing their talent. I really hope they understand and start using their knowledge for some better cause,”

The actress advised her fans on being safe in the tech-world, “In today's world that is so tech savvy, it is very, very important for people to be careful with everything right from their bank account to their social media accounts. We earn the money after hours of hard work and dedication, and such things are not just a physical strain but also strain us out mentally. I really would request fans to be very careful with all this. It's not a safe world, on the internet especially,”

Devoleena rose to fame with her character of Gopi Modi in the daily soap Saath Nibhana Saathiya. This is not the first time that a telly star has been the target of such theft. Nakuul Mehta, of Ishqbaaz fame, had also faced the same issue.
