Nawaz summoned by Thane Police along with wife and advocate!

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is in trouble with the Thane police. The actor is believed to have allegedly hired a private detective to illegally obtain the Call Data Records (CDRs) of his wife Aaliyah’s cell phone which recently came to light when the police arrested four private detectives in Kalwa who were reportedly involved in a massive CDR scam in January.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Abhishek Trimukhi, the arrested accused confessed that the actor’s advocate had obtained the CDRs of Aaliyah’s phone from them. Nawaz, Aaliyah and the advocate have been summoned by the Thane Crime Branch for questioning in connection with the investigation. But Nawazuddin, who is in the news for playing the titular role of Balasaheb Thackeray in a Bollywood biopic on the Shiv Sena supremo, chose to ignore the police’s summons.

DCP Trimukhi told media persons that the CDR racket was unearthed in January when the police acting on a tip-off nabbed the four private detectives from Kalwa. They were identified as Makesh Pandian, Prashant Palekar, Jigar Makwana and Samresh Jha. The renowned woman detective Rajani Pandit too was subsequently arrested for her role in the racket.

It is not known why Nawaz, who courted controversy last year with a kiss-and-tell biography titled An Ordinary Life, sought the CDRs of his wife. It is alleged that the actor also hired a private detective to spy on Aaliyah and subsequently sought her CDRs. Bollywood sources are shocked at this development and say that at no time did Nawaz give anybody the impression that he did not trust his wife.

According to the police, there are several other Bollywood celebrities and businessmen allegedly involved in the CDR case. However, their identities will not be revealed until the investigation is completed. Strangely, Nawaz has brilliantly played a private detective (Daya Shankar ‘DK’ Kapoor) in the late Sridevi’s last film Mom in 2017. Was he encouraged to spy on Aaliyah based on the convictions of his own performance?
