Police checking B-town’s drug dealings; celebs’ names going to govt.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell’s interrogation of alleged drug dealer Bakul Chanderia who was arrested over the weekend at his residence and found to be in possession of Cocaine and LSD worth approximately Rs. 14.56 lakh is opening a can of worms. The police’s scrutiny of Bakul’s call data records (CDRs) has revealed he was in contact with lots of Bollywood celebs to whom he was allegedly a supplier. Top among them are a hot actor who’s not had a hit in a while, two producers, a leading music director, and a dimpled and vivacious former actress now actively involved with the IPL. That Bakul would have a high profile clientele is expected, police sources say because Cocaine and LSD are expensive substances and not openly available to the common man.

All the information gathered so far from their interrogation of Bakul including his alleged Bollywood clients’ names have been given by the Anti-Narcotics Cell to the Maharashtra government’s Home Department under which the Mumbai Police comes. This is because the police find themselves under pressure from several influential people in Mumbai to go easy on Bakul. Moreover, the government is also taking keen interest in this sensational case. The police are keenly following the transactions Bakul allegedly made with this A-list actor and have discovered that Bakul’s delivery point was this big time music director’s office in Oshiwara from where the drugs would reportedly be distributed into the industry.

Bakul was busted in a hush-hush operation at his residence in 14th Road of Khar and the drugs found in his possession are thought to be the supply meant for the coming New Year parties planned by some Bollywood celebs. He was earlier caught in 2012 at a rave party in Hotel Oakwood Premium, Juhu, where a number of lesser-known Bollywood and TV stars and some international cricketers in India to play the IPL also came into the Anti-Narcotics Cell’s net. Police sources say he reportedly supplies drugs also to some of the city’s reputed pubs and night clubs where his patrons hang out. He used to carry out his operations from a video parlour he owns in Khar.
