Kapil Sharma might have made light of this on his comedy show, but Sumona Chakravarti, the feisty actress who plays the comedian’s wife in the hilarious teleshow and was a leading star in the old saas bahu soap Bade Achhe Lagte Hain is not laughing.

A newspaper reported a fracas that the actress’ parents allegedly got into with an auto driver in Andheri east last week that led to her father, Sujeet Chakravarti, being taken bleeding to the Seven Hills Hospital in Marol.

According to the report, The Kapil Sharma Show’s actress is furious. Her mother was unwell and was being taken to the hospital. Instead, after the fight that occurred on a busy road, the mother ended up taking the father to the hospital.

The newspaper quotes Sumona: “We stay near Seven Hills Hospital. No auto driver agreed to go there. Finally, one stopped but wanted a higher fare. My dad argued and then backed off. But the auto guy hit my dad on the head with a rock, then punched and kicked him.”
The story goes that the Seven Hills Hospital reportedly called the Powai Police Station. Following which, statements of witnesses were taken and the police traced the driver. He was identified as Amit Gupta, 25, and picked up from home.

Senior Inspector Anil Pophale of Powai Police Station is reported to have told the newspaper that Gupta was booked under Sections 324 (assault), 337 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and sections of the Motor Vehicle Act and later released on bail of Rs 5,000.

Now comes the twist in the tale.

When Peeping Moon.com got in touch with Sumona, the TV actress angrily said, “The incident’s reportage is wrong. The facts (in the newspaper) are incorrect. As for the auto wallah who hit my father, he hasn’t been booked as mentioned.”
