MET Gala 2022: Pulling off Lady Gaga’s MET 2019 moment, Blake Lively pays an ode to the 'Statue of Liberty' with her transforming Versace creation!

The much-awaited MET Gala for the year has finally come to an end and oh boy, seems like everyone came prepared! Held on May 2 at 6 PM ET, the Oscars of Fashion witnessed an unleashed sartorial extravaganza on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The crème de la crème of the fashion industry left no stone unturned to rock this year’s theme "In America: An Anthology of Fashion." However, there were some iconic MET moments that totally stole the show and Blake Lively’s fashion outing at the gala was one of them.

Arriving at the venue with husband and co-chair Ryan Reynolds, Blake took the glided glamour to the next level with her custom Versace look. Pulling of a Lady Gaga from MET 2019, Blake performed jaw-dropping theatrics on the steps of MET where she paid an ode to New York’s architecture and artistry with her custom creation. Her tulle column dress, curated at Atelier Versace, was embroidered with crystal, metallic leather, paillette, and tri-tone copper foil duchesse.

The unraveling of the oversized foiled bow at the waist revealed the stunner’s second look, a much longer, hand-painted, foiled turquoise train featuring an embroidered celestial map inspired by the 12 zodiac constellations decorating the ceiling of Grand Central Station. Not just the train, Blake swiftly took off the copper gloves layered above the oxidized green ones, thus changing the whole look in a matter of few minutes.

As stated by Versace, Blake’s transformation gown was an ode to New York’s Statue of Liberty constructed during the Glided Era. The outside copper look represented the monument’s original colour which is now transformed into an oxidized green, mirroring the transformed look. The original shape of the dress draws inspiration from American designer, Charles James, while art deco shapes recall New York landmarks like the Empire State building.

Blake jazzed up her NYC-tribute look with a stunning tiara and dazzling crystal-embedded danglers. Opting for dewy, radiant glam and soft curls, she rounded off her Met Gala look.

Now that’s what we call sticking to the theme!
