Fans of Hollywood series are in for some good news as several exciting shows are in the pipeline at various streamers. Netflix has ordered Man on Fire TV adaptation, Jessica Chastain is set to lead Apple limited series The Savant, Ryan Coogler is all set to remount Chris Carter’s The X-Files. HBO has ordered a shorter season of House of Dragon Season 2 whereas its Curb Your Enthusiasm is likely to end with season 12.

Netflix orders ‘Man on Fire’ TV adaptation
Netflix has ordered a straight-to-series, eight-episode TV adaptation of Man on Fire. The show is based on the first two of the five-book series written by AJ Quinnell of the same name. The series tells the story of John Creasy, a broken ex-mercenary on a mission to avenge the death of his only friend, while also protecting his pal’s daughter from the people who destroyed her family. The character was played by Denzel Washington in the 2004 film directed by Tony Scott. Kyle Killen will serve as writer, executive producer and showrunner. The series hails from New Regency Productions, whose film studio produced the film and Chernin Entertainment. Killen will executive produce alongside Chernin’s Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, former USA/Syfy/Peacock originals president Bill McGoldrick and Juan Alfonso.
Ryan Coogler to develop ‘The X-Files’ reboot, says creator Chris Carter
The X-Files creator Chris Carter has revealed that Ryan Coogler is developing a new take on the iconic series that starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in the lead roles. During a recent interview celebrating the 30th anniversary of The X-Files, Chris made the revelation and said, “I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast. So he’s got his work cut out for him, because we covered so much territory.” It is yet unclear about what network or platform the series will stream on as the project is in its very early stages. However, as per reports, it would most likely air on Hulu. The X-Files originally aired on Fox from 1993-2001 before being revived at the network for two more seasons in 2016 and 2018 and followed FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully played by Duchovny and Anderson respectively.
Jessica Chastain to lead Apple limited series ‘The Savant’
Jessica Chastain has scored her own show at Apple. She will star in The Savant, an eight-episode limited series inspired by a true story. As per reports, Jessica plays an investigator known as ‘The Savant’ whose job is to take down the country’s most violent men before they carry out large-scale attacks. Melissa James Gibson is on board to serve as showrunner on the series. Matthew Heineman will direct and serve as exec producer alongside Gibson and Jessica.
HBO’s ‘House of the Dragon’ to get shorter season 2 while season 3 being in the pipeline
The upcoming second season of House of the Dragon will consist of eight episodes, two fewer than Season 1 of the prequel while mulling over a third season. The season 2 will begin shoot in the UK for a likely summer 2024 premiere. Season 3 has also been reportedly mapped out and might be greenlighted. House of the Dragon is set 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen. House of the Dragon stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans.
‘Curb your Enthusiasm’ likely to end with season 12
Larry David is ready to say goodbye to his show Curb Your Enthusiasm with its already announced 12th season. The forthcoming season does not have a premiere date but wrapped filming this week. Jon Hayman, writer and producer shared in a since-deleted tweet a photo of himself with David and executive producer Jeff Schaffer filming what he called the final episode. He had written, “Maybe you love the show. Maybe you hate the show. Maybe you don’t give a shit. In any event, shooting the last scene of the last episode of the final season.”
