When the OTT was flooded with intense, dark and edgy crime-thrillers, Amazon Prime Video came up with a light-hearted, simple yet effective village drama titled Panchayat. Starring Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav in central roles, the show was a huge success. Now, 2 years later, the release date of Panchayat's second season has been announced.
Panchayat season 2 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 20. The OTT platform's official Instagram handle featured the first poster of the second season. The caption read, "janhit mein jaari ab aa rahi hai firse, panchayat dekhne ki baari."
The first season of Panchayat revolved around Abhishek Tripathi, the sachiv of a village named Phulera. Despite being unhappy with his job and the mundane village life, Abhishek has to tackle various day-to-day problems. Neena played the role of Manju Devi whereas Raghubir was Brij Bhushan.
Panchayat season 1 released on April 3, 2020.
