Colin Farrell set to reprise his role of The Penguin in a spin-off series of ‘The Batman’ for HBO Max

Colin Farrell has signed on to star and executive produce a series spinoff of The Batman in which he will reprise his role of The Penguin. As per reports published in an online portal, the actor is all set to play his antagonistic role in the spinoff series. Farrell has taken up the mantle of the villainous character in Robert Pattinson starrer The Batman, which is slated to release on March 4, 2022.

Reportedly, the series will delve into The Penguin’s rise to power in the Gotham’s underworld and will be a sort of origin story. Lauren LeFranc is attached to write the script of the series. The Batman director Matt Reeves and producer Dylan Clark would also executive produce the series along with Farrell. Warner Bros. Television is set to produce the spinoff series.

The Penguin whose original name is Oswald Cobblepot is one of the most popular villains of Batman’s universe and has characteristic and distinguishing wardrobe of a top hat, monocle and an array of deadly umbrellas that he uses for fighting. The spinoff series will premiere on HBO Max.
