Netflix has got all its La Casa De Papel or Money Heist fans in frenzy by announcing a new show titled Berlin, during its global fan event on Tuesday ahead of the premiere of its finale season. The series is getting a spin-off based on one of its most popular characters, Berlin played by Spanish actor Pedro Alonso and will premiere in 2023. That’s not all; the streaming giant has also announced that in the Korean version of Money Heist, Squid Game’s Park Hae-soo will play Berlin.
Berlin is the undercover name for the character otherwise called Andrés de Fonollosa in Money Heist. He is the elder brother of Segio aka The Professor, plated by Alvaro Morte. Berlin is a troublesome character who has sociopathic tendencies. He was the second-in-command of the robbery at the Royal Mint of Spain. However, Berlin often does not get along well with his teammates notably Tokyo and Nairobi but has tremendous leadership qualities and a zest to keep the gang together.
Netflix shared the announcement with the caption, “This heist might come to an end... But the story continues... Berlin 2023, only on Netflix (sic).” On the other hand, Squid Game’s Park Hae-soo has been roped in to play Money Heist’s Korean version. In an announcement video, the actor can be seen taking out the characteristic mask from the original series and saying, “In the Korean version, we also have a special mask. When we show it next year, I’ll give one to Pedro too.”
He continued, “It is an honour for me to participate in such a wonderful series, and above all, make Berlin an amazing character. In the past five years, fans from around the world have shown their love for the series. I hope our Korean version also receives your love and support.” The Korean series will release in 2022.
