Brendan Fraser to play Firefly in 'Batgirl'
Brendan Fraser has been cast in DC's upcoming Batgirl movie. He will play the villainous Firefly, a sociopath with a passion for pyrotechnics, opposite Leslie Grace. Specific plot details for Batgirl have been kept under wraps, but it is known that it centres on Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham police commissioner Jim Gordon.
J.K. Simmons is returning to portray Jim Gordon after first playing the character in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Batgirl is set to premiere on HBO Max, the streaming service backed by WarnerMedia, sometime in 2022. The project is notable because, according to 'Variety', "it marks one of the first major DC Comics properties to skip theatres in favour of streaming". Plus, it is one of the studio's rare comic book adventures - following Wonder Woman and its sequel, as well as Margot Robbie's Birds of Prey- to spotlight a female superhero.

The first look of Claire Foy as Margaret Campbell, Duchess of Argyll, in the first photos for season two of anthology biopic series A Very British Scandal has been dropped. The series deals with the infamous divorce case between the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, which was one of the most brutal and highly publicized breakups of the 20th century.
The upcoming season's log line teases, “Famed for her charisma, beauty, and style. Margaret, Duchess of Argyll, dominated the front pages as the divorce exposed accusations of forgery, theft, violence, drug-taking, bribery, and an explicit Polaroid picture that was to haunt her for the rest of her life.”
Joining Foy and Bettany for season two are Amanda Drew, Richard McCabe, Phoebe Nicholls, Camilla Rutherford, Timothy Renouf, Sophia Myles, Sophie Ward, Tim Steed and Katherine Manners. A Very British Scandal 2 will be available on Amazon Prime Video, BBC One and BBC iPlayer when it premieres.
