The COVID-19 pandemic affected the release schedule of films across the country. Forced by the lockdown, many films skipped their intended theatrical releases and opted for OTT premieres. Due to the digital boom, audiences across the nation got a chance to watch regional content too. Films in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada found a pan-India audience. Now, yet another Malayalam film has taken the digital route.
Minnal Murali, a superhero film, will be releasing on Netflix on December 24. Set in the ‘90s, Minnal Murali is the story of Jaison, an ordinary man-turned-superhero, who is struck by a bolt of lightning that bestows him with special powers. Sharing a date announcement teaser, Netflix wrote, "It's a Christmas date. You and us, watching Minnal Murali together. Caution: Some sparks may fly."
Minnal Murali is directed by Basil Joseph. The film stars Tovino Thomas, Guru Somasundaram, Harisree Ashokan and Aju Varghese. It is produced by Weekend Blockbusters (Sophia Paul). Minnal Murali will premiere in Malayalam with dubs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and English.
