Sidharth Malhotra’s and Kiara Advani’s Shershaah trailer was launched amid the Indian Army jawans on the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas in Kargil. The launch was attended by Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra’s twin brother Vishal Batra and other family members of soldiers who lost their life in the Kargil war. The event took place at the National Horse Polo Ground, Dras, Kargil.
Shershaah is a biopic on Kargil braveheart Captain Vikram Batra who laid down his life while saving a comrade from the Pakistani army. He fought bravely for the country trying to reclaim the Indian terrain invaded by the Pakistani Army in 1999 and led his troops to one of world’s most dangerous mountainous terrain. A BTS video of the trailer launch was released that spoke about his bravery, courage and valour.
#Shershaah is not just a story but a tribute to the Indian Army from the entire nation. We had the absolute honour of being a part of the official #KargilVijayDiwas event in Kargil with the armed officials to pay our respects.https://t.co/XA0zXOdVQY

Talking about portraying Vikram Batra on screen, Sidharth said, “This day is extremely emotional for me. We started this journey five years ago with Vishal Batra ji… This is my first film where I have portrayed the life of a real-life hero whether it’s personal or professional. Shershaah has been an experience bigger than a film. This story is about true, real life heroes like you. And I consider myself lucky that I got to play him.”
Shershaah is directed by Vishnu Varadhan and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. It will release on August 12 on Amazon Prime Video.
