Netflix’s web series ‘Bahubali: Before The Beginning’ starts fresh pre-production with directors Kunal Deshmukh and Ribhu Dasgupta at the helm

The ambitious web series based on SS Rajaouli’s magnum opuses Bahubali: The Beginning & Bahubali 2: The Conclusion has started its pre-production work. The series that is a prequel to the films and is titled Baahubali: Before The Beginning will premiere on Netflix.

Bahubali: Before the Beginning will be helmed by not one but two directors in the form of Kunal Deshmukh and Ribhu Dasgupta. The pre-production work has begun afresh after the previous director, Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy’s work was not liked by the makers and hence Kunal and Ribhu have been asked to take up the project.

The series had been mired with controversy as previously Mrunal Thakur was roped in to play a young Sivagami but after shooting for the series she had to let go as the makers wanted to reshoot the show. Since she no longer has the dates to devote to the series Mrunal has been replaced by Wamiqa Gabbi with a fresh production team. The shooting will start from September.

Reportedly, the two-season show was based on Anand Neelakantan's novel, The Rise of Sivagami and revolved around the fictional character Sivagami, who first featured in Rajamouli's pan-India epic, Bahubali.
