Netflix has released the official trailer for their upcoming sci-fi drama Awake, where everyone somehow loses the ability to sleep. The film stars Gina Rodriguez and is directed by Mark Raso who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Joseph Raso from a story by Gregory Poirier. This post-apocalyptic thriller revolves around a mysterious event that knocks out all electronics and somehow robs people’s ability to catch some sleep that eventually causes utter chaos.
However, there is hope in the form of a little girl who can still take a nap. Rodriguez, stars as an ex-soldier and the mother of the little girl who may hold the key to a cure after the global event that inflicts insomnia on mankind. She must decide: protect her children at all costs or sacrifice everything to save the world.

Awake also stars Ariana Greenblatt, Frances Fisher, Shamier Anderson, Finn Jones, Lucius Hoyos, Gil Bellows, with Barry Pepper and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The film is slated to release on Netflix on June 9, 2021.
