Shilpa Shinde, Shaheer Sheikh, Milind Soman and Annu Kapoor have teamed up for Ekta Kapoor's upcoming series titled Paurashpur. The epic series will premiere on ALT Balaji and ZEE5 on December 29. Ahead of the release, the makers of Paurashpur dropped in the much-awaited trailer on social media today.
Paurashpur is about a king named Raja Bhadrapratap Singh (Annu Kapoor). He is the ruler of a misogynistic kingdom. He marries young women and makes them his queens. However, when they fail to impress him, they are killed. While the women of Paurashpur have no freedom, Rani Meerawati (Shilpa Shinde) challenges the system and takes it upon herself to end patriarchy. She plots to gain control of the kingdom. On the other hand, Boris (Milind) is a master swordsman who questions the inequality between men and women. Veer (Shaheer), a merchant, acts as Meerawati's pawn.
The trailer of Paurashpur indicates that the epic series will be all about rape, sex, slaughter, corruption, abuse of power, misogyny and much more. Set in 16th century India, the show will highlight patriarchy as they try to put an end to it.
Paurashpur will see Sahil Salathia as Bhanu, Poulomi Das as Kala and Anantvijay Joshi as Prince Aditya.
