Tessa Thompson and Nnamdi Asomugha bring a bittersweet jazz romance in ‘Sylvie’s Love’ trailer

Old summer romances have a way of creeping back in lives and that is what is shown in the new trailer for Tessa Thompson’s film Sylvie’s Love. An old summer fling is reignited between her and Nnamdi Asomugha playing the role of Robert, a young saxophonist who spends late nights playing behind a less-talented but well-known bandleader, as member of a jazz quartet.

Thompson plays the titular character, a young ambitious woman eager to embark on a career in television. When Robert takes a part-time job at her father’s record store, the two soon develop a bond unlike they’ve ever experienced before. However, life has different plans for them and they soon part ways. Years pass and as Sylvie nabs a position as a producer’s assistant and Robert’s jazz career begins to take off, their paths cross once again. Their meeting proves the fact that while their life has changed their feelings for each other remain the same.
