Exclusive: Made In Heaven Season 2 to have all-female directors at helm

Amazon Prime's fourth fictional Indian Original series Made In Heaven enthralled the audiences and critics alike with its fresh storyline and layered narrative when it released in March this year. The nine-episode series which chronicles the lives of two wedding planners in Delhi running an agency has now been renewed for the second season and the scripting for the same has already begun. Although the giant streaming platform hasn't yet announced the second season, the sources at Amazon have confirmed the development.

Says a source, "Made In Heaven reflects the lives of upscale modern India, narrated through the eyes of two wedding planners, set against the backdrop of Big Fat Indian Weddings. While the second season will remain constant to the spirit of the first season, this time every episode will not focus on a specific wedding while carrying forward the complicated storylines, like the earlier season. However, it'll continue to be inherently entertaining but strong and deeply rooted in our society."

The principal cast that includes Arjun Mathur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin, Shashank Arora and Shivani Raghuvanshi will return to portray their respective characters with a few new actors also likely to join the cast. However, Prashant Nair who directed two episodes for the first season will no longer be a part of the new season, the source told us. "Reema Kagti who has also co-written the show will now be joining the director's chair along with Zoya Akhtar, Alankrita Shrivastava and Nitya Mehra. The all-female directors will take turns in helming different episodes for the next season which is likely to premiere in March next year," the source further said.

Zoya, Reema and Alankrita are currently writing the screenplay with writers Vasundhara Koshy, Anil Lakhwani, Eisha Chopra, Niranjan Iyengar among others. They will kick-off the project as soon as they're ready with the script.
