I don't think there should be any issue, says Saif Ali Khan on Sacred Games 2

The status of the second season of the web series Sacred Games, starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, has been slightly uncertain in the wake of #MeToo movement in India. While reports suggest that Sacred Games 2 might not see the light of the day since its writer Varun Grover has been accused of sexual harassment, Saif is hopeful that Netflix - the platform on which the series airs – will take the right decision to take it forward.

“Personally, I don't think there should be any issue because Netflix takes these kinds of situations seriously. They will find the right way forward. House Of Cards still got made with changes to the cast. So, I am hoping we will too by taking the necessary step,” Saif told a leading daily when asked about the status of Sacred Games 2.

The first season of the series premiered earlier this year and was received exceptionally well by audiences as well as critics. Sacred Games was directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, who had produced it under their banner Phantom Films. However, Motwane and Kashyap embroiled themselves into the #MeToo controversy after their partner Vikas Bahl was accused of sexual harassment by a former woman employee – the fiasco ultimately led to the dissolution of Phantom Films, announced earlier this month.

Also, Peepingmoon.com reported last week that Netflix has sacked Varun from the second season and he will no longer be credited as a co-writer of the gangster-cop saga.

In the midst of this, Saif, we are as hopeful as you about Sacred Games 2.

Saif, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of his new film Baazaar. Directed by Gauravv K Chawla, Baazaar will release on October 26.
