Veteran Tamil and Telugu actor Sarath Babu passes away at 71

Earlier this month, veteran Telugu and Tamil actor Sarath Babu was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad due to age-related issues. His condition was said to be critical. Now, news has come in that the actor is no more. He passed away at the age of 71 years.

Sarath Babu was undergoing treatment for multi-organ damage at AIG Hospital in Hyderabad. Earlier on May 3, news about his demise had started circulating in social media but his sister had rubbished the rumours of his death and said that he was recovering.

Sarath Babu worked in more than 200 films, including Hindi films as well. He made his debut in 1973 but gained fame in 1978 through the Tamil film Nizhal Nijamagiradhu, directed by K Balachander. He has received eight state Nandi Awards. Sarath was last seen in Malli Pelli as Peddayana this year. He also appeared in Vasantha Mullai. Sarath Babu has also worked extensively in the television industry.

Sarath Babu was born in Amadalavalasa, Andhra Pradesh with the name Satyanarayana Dixit. After entering the film industry, he changed his name to the current one.
