‘Indian history books unfair to indigenous empires of India,’ says Ponniyin Selvan’s Aishwarya Lekshmi

Aishwarya Lekshmi, Karthi and Vikram who star in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 spoke about the need to impart knowledge about Indian empires in school history books.

Lekshmi, who plays Poonguzhali in PS2 said, “There has been some level of unfairness towards the indigenous empires of India. It would take a lot of research to get a little bit of information about them in that direction.”

She said, “Kalki's novel Ponniyin Selvan is a window to the 10th century southern India, how progressive we were at that time and how westernisation led us to go back in time.”
