Rana Daggubati talks about undergoing corneal and kidney transplant, calls himself ‘almost The Terminator’

Rana Daggubati has been busy promoting his recently released web series Rana Naidu which is streaming on Netflix. In a recent interview, the actor spoke about his corneal and kidney transplant and jokingly called himself The Terminator. He revealed that he cannot see from his right eye and spoke about partial blindness. He also shared his thoughts about the need to talk about his journey.

In an interview, he spoke about the need to share his journey and said, “"I think I am one of the few guys who spoke about corneal transplant. It was also because there was a kid whose mom had lost her eye and he was very sad in terms of what it is. And I told him its not what it is. Everything has a way of it and that’s when I just told about my eye. I can’t see from my right eye, so I operate in a different view."

Rana further added, “Many people can get broken because of a physical problem and even it if gets fixed, there is a certain heaviness that will still be there. I had a corneal transplant, I had a kidney transplant so it’s like I am almost the Terminator. (laughs) So, I was like, ‘come on, I am still surviving and you just have to keep going’.”

Rana had previously revealed about his health condition in a chat show named Memu Saitham in 2016. On the show, he was moved after hearing a young boy’s story and said, “Should I tell you one thing, I am blind from my right eye. I see only from my left eye. The one you see is someone else’s eye which was donated to me after his death. If I close my left eye, I can see no one. LV Prasad operated me when I was young. Study well, we will support, be courageous as you have to look after your family. Sorrows will go away one day but you have to gear up and keep your family happy always.”
