What’s needed to make a blockbuster? Love, humour, a strong conflict, emotions and a happy-ever-after ending. When all these elements come together, expect an explosion of entertainment. In the Prabhas-Pooja Hegde period drama Radhe Shyam, one will find almost all ingredients of entertainment amid the pandemic.

Directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, Radhe Shyam revolves around Vikramaditya (Prabhas), a world-renowned palmist. Vikramaditya has never got his predictions wrong and has foreseen some of the biggest events of history. While females gush over him and his towering presence, he chooses the path of flirtation over commitment. His prediction of love goes wrong when Prerana (Pooja Hegde) enters his life.

Prerana, a brain tumour patient, has very little time in hand. Vikramaditya, too, faces an obstacle in life. As Vikramaditya and Prerana unite, they challenge their destiny and allow their love to conquer every obstacle. Will they succeed in the war between destiny and love? To know the answer, one must watch Radhe Shyam

Director Radha Krishna Kumar binds together a love story with destiny as the key conflict. Sensing the pulse of his audience, he delivers what’s expected – a romantic period saga meant to draw people to the theatres. The climax of Radhe Shyam is spectacular and a never seen before one. The grandeur will certainly draw the audience to theatres.

Prabhas, as Vikramaditya, breathes life and soul into Radhe Shyam. Apart from his performance, he’ll make his female fans go gaga over his good looks and towering presence. It is an out and out Prabhas show. Pooja lends support beautifully. She is like a ray of sunshine. Their chemistry is one of the USPs of Radhe Shyam. They look lovely together. Bhagyashree as Prabhas’s mother delivers a beautiful performance and looks stunning. Kunaal Roy Kapur does well as Prabhas’s brother.

What sets Radhe Shyam apart from other romantic films is the production value. Set in the 1970s, the shoot locales are visually stunning and enhance the overall beauty of the film. Apart from this, what catches attention is the vintage train shown in the film. The production and ambience of Radhe Shyam transport you to a different world. Cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa has a key role to play in this period drama and without his work behind the lens, Radhe Shyam would have been left incomplete.

When it is a Bhushan Kumar production, do expect some good and memorable songs. Arijit Singh casts his magic once again with Aashiqui Aa Gayi. Songs like Soch Liya and Jaan Hai Meri are soulful renditions.
