He's just three films old and is already one of the most-sought after and refined directors of our times. Hailed as the master storyteller when it comes to family dramas, Raj is taking forward the legacy of Karan Johar's Dharma Productions through his films which are deeply rooted in Indian culture. He does it all without compromising on demand for a modern touch to appeal to a wider audience.
Raj made his directorial debut under Karan Johar's wings. He directed Good Newwz in 2019 which gave his career a flying start. The film was a critical and commercial success. Good Newwz was headlined by Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh. This cemented Raj's position in the Hindi film industry. It was a profitable venture for Dharma Productions and stayed true to its core values of entertainment too.
Post the COVID-19 pandemic, Raj released his much-awaited big-scale film titled Jug Jugg Jeeyo in June last year. When the industry was struggling to pull crowds to theatres, the family drama was declared a superhit at the box office. After IVF in Good Newwz, Raj tackled yet another social subject in Jug Jugg Jeeyo. The film starring Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Kiara Advani and Varun Dhawan was about two couples who faced trouble in their marriage. Raj gave Dharma Productions a successful film once again.
Now, less than a year later, the director is back with Selfiee. He teamed up with Akshay once again. The film, co-starring Emraan Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Diana Penty, Meghna Malik, Abhimanyu Singh and Neev Ahuja, released in theatres today. We're sure that Raj and Dharma Productions are on their way to delivering their third blockbuster together!
