There was no dearth of entertainment for audience as OTT offered one stellar show after another. With the advent of digital platforms several nuanced actors have a got a new lease of life as well as opportunities to showcase their work in web series.

Here are a few of the best performances by male actors on the streamers in 2022:

Gulshan Devaiah – Duranga

Gulshan Devaiah put in a career-best performance in Zee5’s crime series Duranga. Paired opposite Dhrashti Dhami the actor portrayed a man leading a double life- one of a loving husband and father and another of a man haunted by a sordid past. His riveting performance in the series kept the audience guessing about his next moves till the very end.

Abhishek Bachchan and Amit Sadh – Breathe Into the Shadows season 2

Abhishek Bachchan and Amit Sadh reprised their roles in Prime Video’s Breathe: Into The Shadows season 2. The actors managed to give impeccable performances and kept the audience hooked.

Amol Parashar – Tripling 3

Amol Parashar excelled in the comic turn as he reprised his role in Tripling Season 3. The actor starred in the series alongside Sumeet Vyas, Maanvi Gagroo, Kumud Mishra and Shernaz Patel.

Jim Sarbh and Ishwak Singh – Rocket Boys

Jim Sarbh played the role of Indian scientist Homi Bhabha in SonyLIV’s series Rocket Boys. The actor enlivened the show with his charismatic performance and lit up the screen every time he appeared on it. He was so good that it was difficult to imagine someone else as Bhabha instead of Sarbh. On the other hand, his co-star Ishwak Singh gave him ample support with his superlative performance as scientist Vikram Sarabhai. He was endearing, smart and emotional as compared to Bhabha’s persona who was more eccentric and moody.

Karan Tacker – Khakee The Bihar Chapter

Karan Tacker played the role of a no-nonsense cop in the crime drama series Khakee: The Bihar Chapter. The actor nailed his role and managed to bring a superlative performance as the law officer pitted against gangsters and goons in the drama.

Rohit Saraf - Mismatched 2

Rohit Saraf is not called the national crush for the heck of it. He definitely got everyone eating out of his hands as he reprised his role in Netflix’s Mismatched 2. The actor managed to impress with his performance in the series.

Pankaj Tripathi – Criminal Justice Season 3

It is difficult to ignore Pankaj Tripathi in any role that he takes up. After owning the role of Kaleen Bhaiya in Mirzapur, Pankaj Tripathi turned lawyer in Criminal Justice: Adhura Sach. He manages to deliver a standout performance with his dialogues and expressions.

Jitendra Kumar - Panchayat 2

Jitendra Kumar once again reprised his role of the hapless young man stuck in a lackluster low paying government job in a remote village in Panchayat 2 with aplomb. The actor once again gave a brilliant performance which was subdued yet perfect.

Vaibhav Tatwawadi - Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi

Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi is a social drama that exposes the underbelly of rural India, including casteism, sexism, patriarchy, and illiteracy. Vaibhav Tatwawadi plays a city dweller in the series who returns to native village Buxar in Bihar. The show follows his search for his roots which are steeped in reality. Vaibhav Tatwawadi steps into his role with ease and delivers a powerhouse performance.

 Amit Sial - Jamtara and Maharani 2

Amit Sial was seen in quite a few shows this year and he managed to grab eyeballs in all of them. Sial reprised his role in Huma Qureshi and Sohum Shah’s Maharani 2 and was also seen in Shefali Shah and Kriti Kulhari’s Human as well as in Jamtara Season 2. The actor gave impeccable performances in all of them.

Sanjay Kapoor - The Fame Game

Sanjay Kapoor nailed his character in Madhuri Dixit starrer The Fame Game. Playing Madhuri’s husband in the series, Sanjay looks convincing portraying an evil streak and aces his role.

Tahir Raj Bhasin – Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein

Tahir Raj Bhasin plays Vikrant in the Netflix series Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein. His deftly carries the show on his shoulders and gives a winning performance as a man caught between a rock and a hard place with nowhere to go, in this case being stuck between his love and being the object of affection of a femme fatale.

Bobby Deol – Aashram Chapter 2: The Dark Side  

Bobby Deol returned with his evil act of self-proclaimed godman Baba Nirala in a career-defining role. He continues to play the evil protagonist in Prakash Jha’s series.

Arjun Rampal-London Files

We have seen Arjun Rampal play a plethora of characters on the silver screen, throughout the years. His performances have never failed to amaze us. He made a strong OTT performance through the web series titled London Files. We have seen the bright and positive side of London through many movies and web series but London Files shows us a dark, grim and chilling one. Arjun Rampal plays the role of a detective who is troubled by a traumatic past. His character is on a journey to find the truth and Arjun has played it to perfection.
