This year has been a mixed bag for Bollywood in terms of relationships. While we saw some celebrities getting married and some finding their perfect partners, popular star couples decided to end their marriages due to various factors. 

Now, as 2021 is coming to an end, let's take a look at the blissful unions and heartbreaking separations that shook the entertainment industry. From Aamir Khan ending his 15 years long marriage with Kiran Rao, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya's separation to Rakul Preet Singh finding love in Jackky Bhagnani and Karishma Tanna getting engaged to Varun Bangera, all that happened in tinsel town. 

Separations

Kirti Kulhari-Saahil Sehgal

Kirti Kulhari tied the knot with Saahil Sehgal on June 24, 2016, in an intimate ceremony. On April 1, the actress announced her separation with a statement on Instagram. In the statement, she wrote, "A simple note to let everyone know that my husband Saahil and I have decided to separate. Not on paper, but in life. A decision that is probably harder than the decision of "being with someone", because coming together is celebrated by everyone you love and care about. And the decision of "not being with somebody" brings along pain and hurt to the same people. It's not easy. Guess it's not meant to be easy but IT IS WHAT IT IS. To those who really care, I am in a good place and I hope everyone who matters in my life is too. Will not be commenting further on this. Upward and Onward...Always.."

Karan Mehra-Nisha Rawal

Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal, one of the most loved couples of television, parted ways on a bitter note. In June, Nisha accused Karan of domestic violence and filed a police complaint against him as well as his family members. She further claimed that the actor had an extra-marital affair and sold off all her jewellery. On the other hand, Karan dismissed her claims as false and said she would harass him and make him feel suicidal. In an interview, Karan said Nisha was having an extra-marital affair from 2015 to 2016. Nisha and Karan tied the knot in 2012 and welcomed their son Kavish in 2017.

Aamir Khan-Kiran Rao

On July 3, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced their decision to end their 15-year-long marriage. In a joint statement, the former couple said that they'll continue co-parenting their 10 years old son Azad Rao Khan. Aamir and Kiran also mentioned that they'll be associated with each other, but only professionally. After the announcement, they continued working on Laal Singh Chaddha. Kiran celebrated Azad's birthday with Aamir and his elder son Junaid Khan. Aamir was formerly married to Reena Dutta and they have two children-Junaid and Ira Khan.

Honey Singh-Shalini Talwar

Shalini Talwar, the wife of rapper and music composer Hirdesh Singh, popularly known as Yo Yo Honey Singh, filed a case of domestic violence, sexual violence, mental harassment and financial violence against him at the Tis Hazari courts in August. She had further accused him of engaging in extra-marital sex with various women. Not just Honey, Shalini had also named the rapper's parents in her complaint. 

Shikhar Dhawan-Aesha Mukerji

Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan married Aesha Mukerji in 2012. They have a son named Zoravar. In a long Instagram note on September 6, Aesha revealed that she has separated from Shikhar after 9 years of marriage. Aesha, a Melbourne-based boxer, has two daughters from her previous marriage. 

Samantha Ruth Prabhu-Naga Chaitanya

Tollywood's most adored couple, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya ended their 4-year-long marriage. The Telugu actors issued a joint statement announcing their separation. Samantha and Chaitanya met on the set of Ye Maaya Chesave in 2010 and tied the knot in 2017. The rumours of separation sparked off after Samantha dropped her surname 'Akkineni' from all social media handles. 

Sushmita Sen-Rohman Shawl

Sushmita Sen and Rohman Shawl were the perfect jodi of Bollywood and fans were eagerly waiting for them to tie the knot. However, in February, there were rumours of their separation. The confirmation came from Sushmita on December 23. Sushmita and Rohman were dating for quite some years and the latter was reportedly living with the actress and her daughters, Renee and Alisah.

Rakul Preet Singh-Jackky Bhagnani

On her birthday, Rakul Preet Singh made her relationship with Jackky Bhagnani official. She shared an adorable picture with the producer and thanked him for being her "biggest gift this year". For the unversed, Jackky is producing Rakul's next film titled Cinderella co-starring Akshay Kumar. On Jackky's birthday, Rakul shared his unseen picture and wrote, "Happpy happpy bdayyy my sunshine. May you always keep smiling and spreading smiles the way you do ! You know I wish you all that you desire."

KL Rahul-Athiya Shetty

Suniel Shetty's daughter Athiya Shetty is painting the town red with Indian cricketer KL Rahul. For quite some years, the rumour mill has it that they are dating each other. But, they never confirmed or spoke about it. However, they dropped in a major hint at the relationship during the premiere of Ahan Shetty's debut film Tadap. KL Rahul attended the screening with Athiya, Suniel, Mana Shetty and Ahan. He posed with the Shettys for a lovely 'family' picture. That was the first time when Athiya and Rahul posed for the paparazzi. 

Vidyut Jammwal-Nandita Mahtani

On September 1, Vidyut Jammwal popped the big question to Nandita Mahtani in front of the Taj Mahal. They kept their relationship under tight wraps and finally, on September 13, the actor confirmed the news by sharing pictures from their visit to an army camp. 

Karishma Tanna- Varun Bangera

Karishma Tanna and Varun Bangera got engaged in November during their trip to Dubai. Though the actress didn't confirm, a friend named Suved Lohia put the rumours to rest by sharing the couple's loved-up picture on his Instagram stories. As per reports, Karishma and Varun met each other through a common friend. Reportedly, they will tie the knot in 2022.

Zeeshan Khan- Reyhna Pandit 

Zeeshan Khan, known for playing the role of Aryan in Kumkum Bhagya, is dating his on-screen mother, actress Reyhna Pandit. In August, there were rumours of their relationship, but Reyhna dismissed them as false. However, in October, Zeeshan officially confirmed that he is in a relationship with her. The actor shared a picture of them kissing. 

Kim Sharma-Leander Paes

Kim Sharma has found love in Leander Paes. On September 6, she shared her first picture with him and put all the rumours to rest. Without saying much, she confirmed and made her relationship Instagram official. Years ago, Kim was said to be in a relationship with Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh. Later, she got married to Ali Punjani. After she parted ways with her husband, Kim was in a relationship with Harshvardhan. They broke up in 2019. Leander separated from his wife Rhea Pillai in 2017. They have a daughter named Aiyana Paes. 

Arslan Goni-Sussanne Khan

Hrithik Roshan's former wife Sussanne Khan is said to be in a relationship with actor Arslan Goni. They have time and again shared loved-up pictures with each other but they are yet to formally announce it. Arslan, who is the cousin of Aly Goni, had stated in the past that Sussanne is just a good friend, but netizens are sure that there is more to their relationship.
