Akshay Kumar returns to the UK with family to resume the shoot of 'Cinderella' days after mother Aruna Bhatia's demise

Akshay Kumar's mother Aruna Bhatia passed away on Wednesday morning (September 8). Aruna Bhatia was taken critically ill recently and was admitted to the ICU of Hiranandani Hospital in Powai, Mumbai. The alarming news had brought Akshay back to Mumbai leaving his shooting schedule in London for Ranjit Tewari’s psychological thriller Cinderella for the time being. However, the actor lost his mother yesterday.

Now, Akshay has returned to the UK for the pending schedule along with his wife Twinkle Khanna, son Aarav Bhatia and daughter Nitara Bhatia. Akshay and his family members were spotted at the Mumbai airport on Friday afternoon.

The actor, who turned 54 on Thursday, remembered his late mother with an emotional post that read, "Would have never liked it this way but am sure mom is singing Happy Birthday to me from right up there! Thanks to each one of you for your condolences and wishes alike. Life goes on."

PeepingMoon informed its readers earlier that Cinderella is the remake of the hit Tamil psychological thriller Ratsasan (2018). It will be directed by Bell Bottom director Ranjit Tewari and also features Rakul Preet Singh. Revealing the title of the film, AK had earlier said, "I always wanted to do a psycho-thriller. I’m doing it now, I’m going to shoot, it’s called Cinderella. Ranjit Tewari is directing it. Going to London as it’s opened, so will shoot there."

When asked more about his role in the film, Akshay said he can't reveal much. However, the actor said that he is not playing 'Cinderella in the film. "It’s a psycho-thriller, can’t reveal anything more. I can only say this much that I am not the Cinderella," the actor said.
