After some speculations last month, Italian designer house Roberto Cavalli has finally confirmed its plans to close its Tuscany headquarters. The designer-owner of the namesake brand plans to move its 170 employees from the headquarters located at Osmannoro, outside Florence, to Milan from September 1, 2020.
As confirmed by the company’s spokesperson, the fashion label intends to transfer all business and management to Milan and has pledged to ‘guarantee all medical staff, comments, and events in accordance with the CCNL [national agreement] for relocation, provided that extends to all employees.” The luxury brand stated that its decision to relocate would be implemented post the global crisis is over as to find the common solution benefiting for all.
However, it seems that this decision was not taken very well by the union and said it was “a choice we have tried to avoid in any way. This seems like an unacceptable decision for a brand that, on the contrary, [has been interpreted] to be released here in Florence. This is huge for the region. that and the decision will affect the environment negatively,” as mentioned by an online website, Women's Wear Daily.
While there’s still an official word to come out on its marketing strategy, it is said that the fashion house will continue to thrive in the luxury market and maintain its domestic hold in Italy as well.
