Brutal! Dolce & Gabbana releases an apology video for their Chinese ad controversy and Diet Prada rips it apart

The Italian house Dolce & Gabbana (D&G),  founded in 1985 by Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, drew huge flak due to their controversial advertisement which they came up with a few days ago. The fashion house had posted a video on China’s social network Weibo showing a Chinese model trying to eat pizza, cannoli and spaghetti using chopsticks, which caused uproar online and was removed within 24 hours. However, the damage was done and hashtag #BoycottDolce starting to trend.

A series of events took place after this controversial advertisement released. From D&G's Shanghai fashion show getting cancelled to China hitting back at the luxury brand; a lot went down with D&G and its founders. After procrastinating for days and justifying themselves innumerable times, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana finally came up with an apology video and released it on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo today.

Soon after popular Instagram page Diet Prada which calls out fashion copycats translated the video in English and ripped it apart line by line. Diet Prada posted its views on the video on its Instagram story and put an end to all questions yet again. Diet Prada's post was soon followed by some supportive comments on the video but later the account cleared the air by saying that those were paid comments.

The designer duo in a gloomy look spoke about what went wrong and about how they gave a second thought to everything that has happened and apologized for what happened in the video. They went on to talk about how their families have always taught them to respect the cultures of the world. They also spoke about how they have always been in love with China and how they admire its culture. The duo further added that they have learnt from their mistakes and ensure that this will never happen again. The designer-duo ended the video by apologizing again "if" they made any mistakes and claimed to do better in the future.

Well, whether or not the Chinese will accept their apology remains the big question!
