Malaika, Ujjwala, Mehr‘s 'sexy as sin’ tribute to Versace in Elle India April Issue

‘The Supers’ – reads the title of the latest issue of Elle. Entirely apt for this reunion of India’s Nineties’ supermodels who continue to look gob-smackingly sensational! The stylish set comprises Archana Kumar, Malaika Arora Khan, Ujjwala Raut, Dipannita Sharma and Mehr Jesia, proving there is no beating the Nineties chicks at the sizzle stakes.
In an ode to the Versace Spring 2018 runway show, the cover sees the smouldering showstoppers recreating that iconic Versace ramp moment, glamming it up together in trademark Versace, but of course.

Much as the cover girls impress, the mind does wonder about the absence of those iconic greats - Noyonika Chatterjee, Shyamoli Varma, Madhu Sapre and Indrani Dasgupta, as also Sheetal Mallar and Nina Manuel. But hey, there’s enough here to keep us hooked.
Fash fanatics will remember that exact moment when Donatella Versace created the defining moment of the Milan Fashion Week on September 22 last year. Her blockbuster show honouring her late brother, Gianni had closed with a surprise supermodel reunion that absolutely brought the house down!

In fact, security guards had had to hold back the audience, which practically rushed towards the catwalk once a white curtain fell away to reveal the special guests of honour. Cindy Crawford, Carla Bruni, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen and Claudia Schiffer, all in gold lame, had gasps emanating from every corner as they sashayed down to that Nineties’ anthem, George Michael’s ‘Freedom’.

Our very own homegrown hotties sport pieces from the tribute collection, which features pieces from Versace’s 90s archives remade by Donatella Versace. Together they make for a cover that’s ‘sexy as sin’.

Years and years later, these legendary beauties continue to stun. While Mehr Jessia Rampal, one of the most successful models of her time, is still regarded as a style icon, Malaika Arora continues to beat women several years her junior in the hotness stakes. Archana, Ujjwala and Dipannita are just as willowy and wonderful as they were in their heyday… leaving us wondering just why we have to wait for a ‘reunion’ cover to see more of these hot-steppers!
