As we enter the new decade and era, the need for sustainable fashion has drastically increased. The climate changes around us have its impact on the way we dress and what we purchase and thus it is our responsibility to inculcate sustainability in our lives and wardrobe alike!
Bringing in 2020 on a sustainable fashion note, pop sensation Katy Perry took over the streets of Mumbai in kaleidoscopic avatar for Vogue India’s January issue. Colourful and sprightly indeed!
Styled by Anaita Adajania, a Sabyasachi clad Katy put on a show of colours in this embroidered patchwork coat made from recycled fabrics bound together with mirror work, leftover thread and tinsel. A heavily encrusted neckpiece from the designer’s jewellery added an indie element to her colourful look. Opting for a subtle glam and a pink pout, she looked cover ready!

Decked up in marigold and a blingy mirror ball cape dress from designer Ashish, Katy was definitely a vision to behold. Upcycled Griselda Headpiece featuring old collections, hairpins, earrings from Deepa Gurnani added oodles of drama to her outfit. Oh, how those red lips enhanced her gorgeous blue eyes!
Colour us flattered! Katy flaunted a multi-coloured tasselled tank top that featured dramatic sleeves and a popping pink scalloped skirt from Khosla Jani. She teamed up her vibrant attire with a fancy headgear from Ara Lumiere, a label crafted by survivors of acid attack victims. Talk about fashion with a cause!
Another stunning look to sink our teeth into! Perry whitewashed them all in this strapless regenerated dress from Marine Serre and heels from Katy’s own collection. We can’t take our eyes off from that statement-making Sabyasachi neckpiece!
Here’s another stellar dramatic number from label Richard Quinn. She teamed up her puffy, floral attire with an upcycled headband from label Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla.
‘Gateway’ goals! Katy cut out a vibrant picture in this colourful number by Moschino. She teamed up her thigh slit dress and embroidered coat with an upcycled brooch crafted with traditional pieces of jewellery by Swapna Mehta.
Rainbow feels! Katy channelled her vivacious side in this popping, colourful Ronald Van Der Kemp fringe dress that was made from repurposed materials. A colourful vibrant bow from Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla completed her attire.
Donning a Versace top and a polymer patola skirt from label Amit Aggarwal, she unleashed the riot of colours in this one! Vintage kadas from Raj Mahtani Couture Jewels, an upcycled Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla headband and popping yellow heels from Papa Don’t Preach rounded off her dramatic attire.
Katy sported a Manish Arora ensemble that was crafted from leftover fabrics from previous collections. Loved that tiara from Jade!
Bow wow! Perry went full retro on us in this polka dress from Papa Don’t Preach. Wearing a belt as a headband from label Anushka Khanna, she took our breath away.
