The auspicious 9-day festivities of Sharadiya Navratri have begun. The festival is dedicated to Goddess Durga and falls during the onset of autumn or Sharad in the month of Ashwin, Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the Moon), and hence the name.

There’s no doubt, we Indians love to celebrate festivals with our loved ones. Navratri is no less than any other festival. With excitement and enthusiasm, we pray to God and the aartis fill the environment with a positive aura and of course, the dandiya nights which we absolutely love. Wearing beautiful ethnic clothes of different shades adds much more colour to our life for 9 days. Wearing fashionable chaniya cholis, suits, lehngas, anarkalis, and what not! We fashionistas love to drench ourselves in joyous Navratri hues.

Day 1 Colour: White

On this first day, devotion is dedicated to Goddess Shailputri. The Goddess, who goes by the names Sati, Bhawani, and Hemavati, is the daughter of Himalaya. The colour white is the focus of this day. The colour white denotes purity and innocence. The colour signifies peace and calmness and represents the ultimate manifestation of Mother Nature or Mata Shailputri.
