Kiran Rao says films like Kabir Singh and Bahubali glorify stalking women, adds they do well at box office

Kiran Rao who is all set for the release of her upcoming directorial Laapataa Ladies recently talked about the glorification of stalking of women in films and went on to comment that such films end up doing well at the box office. 

Giving the example of Kabir Singh (2019) that starred Kiara Advani and Shahid Kapoor in the lead, which presented wooing of women in the positive light, she further went on to talk about Bahubali.

She said, “Another very big film, which I find fascinating, was Bahubali 1 (Baahubali: The Beginning). It started off with this exciting fight sequence, where this woman is leaping from tree to tree, and she is a warrior." Rao further commented on how the lead makes the actress his love interest in it. "I find it fascinating. It is the biggest films of Indian cinema," she added. 

Rao also emphasised the need for more female leads in the industry and also to make them do difficult roles, and commented, "women can take positions and deliver."

Kiran is set for her upcoming directorial Laapataa Ladies that will release on January 5, 2024 and is produced by Aamir Khan.
