No Theatrical Release! Makers sell Ishaan Khatter's Pippa to OTT, book limited losses?

The upcoming Ishaan Khatter’s starrer Pippa was announced back in the year of 2021 and the audience have been waiting for the film since then. Starring Ishaan Khatter in the lead, the film is set against the backdrop of Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. Although the film was supposed to have a theatrical release, but now if the latest reports are to be believed, the film will have a direct release on an OTT platform, thus skipping its theatre release.

A source in one of an entertainment websites mentioned, "Pippa has gone over budget in its making. It cost Rs. 75 crores and the idea ever since the shoot was wrapped up was to minimize the losses. The theatrical release would have resulted in big losses as the star-cast is not big. So the makers have sold the film to an OTT platform and booked limited losses on the project. This is the best-case scenario in terms of revenue for Pippa and that has happened because the content is good."

Directed by Raja Menon and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the producer announced about two films back in 2021, Ishaan’s Pippa and Kangana Ranaut’s Tejas which recently had a theatrical release but failed to score big numbers at the box office.
