Shah Rukh made me feel like an equal: Karan Johar

Karan Johar recently made a comeback to the filmmaking after the 7 long years with his directorial Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani that was a box office success. Since then, KJo spoke at multiple platforms how he didn't feel at par as a filmmaker in comparison to others at different junctures in his life. Now, in a recent interview, Karan went on to share that it was Shah Rukh Khan who made him feel that he is no lesser than others.

KJo also mentioned that although he was born in a very progressive family that had modern take on the things there were some thoughts that he couldn’t explain or that couldn’t be understood even by his parents. And it was the time when the ‘feminine’ side of him was coming out but the people around would just chatter and make fun of it.

Talking about the same Karan said, “I remember Shah Rukh Khan was the first man that didn't make me feel lesser for some reason. He made me feel like an equal.”

The filmmaker added, “Whenever I had to say the biggest thing about my personality and sexuality, I spoke to him first. He was that one sense of support. Even he doesn't realize what he's been to me.”

Karan debuted as a filmmaker back in 1998 with his film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which also featured Shah Rukh alongside Kajol and Rani Mukerji.
